Ruby - Hanningfield Princess Leia
Ruby is a fantastic water worker and a tremendous example for our group of what can be achieved with patience and dedication. Graham and Jan own Ruby and like her late big sister Maisie she has passed the Section E Water Tests, the highest level in the UK and a standard achieved by only a very small number of dogs. To underline her abilities as one of the UKs top water working Newfoundlands, she has twice won the Advanced Water Trials at the Newfoundland Club's annual Ragley competition.
A class act in and out of the water, Ruby has had a hugely successful career in the show ring winning four Kennel Club Reserve CCs and, as a Veteran, a full KC Challenge Certificate - proof, if any were needed, that a working Newfoundland can also succeed in the show ring.
In 2011 Ruby again passed Section E twice and further added to her impressive résumé by including TV actor in the list! She passed the auditions and appeared on BBC television with Warwick Davis, Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant and cast in the comedy series "Life's Too Short".
The awards for Ruby's outstanding achievements keep coming, she was the Southern Newfoundland Club's Top Working Newfoundland and Top Veteran 2011. Then, on 05 May 2012 three days after her 10th birthday Ruby again passed Section E, this time at a third different location and thereby qualifies to receive the Diploma in Water Work which is awarded jointly by all three Newfoundland Clubs and is the highest award made to a Working Newfoundland in the UK. We believe only half a dozen Diplomas have ever been awarded in the UK so Ruby is in very exclusive company.
